Meet Miriam, the dresser

Image
Meet Miriam, the dresser. I guess you can call her a proper kind of gal.  She prefers tea over coffee and PBS over Fox. She is a member of the regional curling club and surprising, a heck of a thrower.  She attends a weekly book club, but keeps it secret that she prefers Danielle Steele romances over the prescribed historic novels. She considers herself a bit of a foodie, and never misses a chance to catch the syndicated show, The French Chef, as Julia Child is one of her heroes.  She lives a comfortable lifestyle, but shares it with no one (nor any animal friends), although she has a beautiful garden that would rival any master gardener. She immensely enjoys her job as the curator the local historic society and plans on working until her feet can no longer hold her up. As you can see, Miriam came to me already beautiful.  The grain would be such a shame to cover up.  So, I thought by adding the little bit of color to the trim (Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint)...

A Vintage Wedding Weekend

Image
Kind of super excited to be part of a shop that has cool events, like a Vintage Wedding Weekend !  This Saturday and Sunday, February 16th & 17th,   Robin's Egg in Milford, NH will feature an abundance of wedding decor in every style; cottage shabby chic, rustic, eclectic, vintage . . . .  There will also be local bakers, florists, and photographers.  Kind of wish I was getting married again.  (Sorry Tom). Here are a few of the wedding items I will have for sale for our shoppers.  You can also purchase them from our Etsy Shop. I'm loving these wedding centerpiece boxes.  Each comes has a table number painted on it and a unique set of knobs.  And I imagine them going home with guests who play some ridiculous game involving their birthday or passing something around to the music played by the DJ.  Yup -- been there, done that. Know what's a simple way to add a little rustic decor to your tables?  Birch tree table numbers, that's how!...

Make Your Own Photo Prop Valentines

Image
I kind of wanted a fun valentine for my little girl's preschool class. In keeping with our local school distric'ts no junk food policy, this was my perfect opportunity to excite the kid with imagination and forget about the cute little pink and red M&Ms they're missing. And I'm kind of loving this moustache craze; please don't judge me; I grew up with Tom Selleck as a heart throb. Not sure if they are still terribly appropriate in "real" life, but I'm digging all the quirky decorations, cards, and home decor available in the marketplace. My inspiration came from a page that I re-pinned on Pinterest.   Needing a fun little valentine, I dove right in. Here were my supplies: Fun, heavy paper Glue gun Scissors Xacto knife heavy paper for templates skewer skick After printing my free sheet from my pinned website , my preschooler and I decided which lips and moustaches we liked the best, and then traced and cut them out of a manila folder.  You can us...
